Things to Do in Omaha During the College World Series (Updated for 2025!)
Coming to Omaha for the CWS? Add these stops to your to-do list while you’re here!
These are a few of my (Emily’s) favorites around town. This will give you options for things to do a stone’s throw away from Charles Schwab Field, AND spots to visit if you’re up for a little drive around town.
Looking for something specific? Shoot me an email and I’m happy to help.
Near Charles Schwab Field:
These highly recommended spots are within walking distance from the baseball field.
Sip a beer at Kros Stain Draft Works
1209 Millwork Ave, Omaha, NE 68102 (4 minute drive or 13 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
Kros Strain is a local staple for quality beer. This spot in Millwork Commons is their second location in town. The OG location is in La Vista if you end up visiting that area. Both locations have a patio and are a chill spot to enjoy a drink.
Grab a cocktail at Anna’s Place
1802 Dodge St, Omaha, NE 68102 (5 minute drive or 25 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
This speakeasy-style cocktail bar has ALL 👏 THE 👏 VIBES. It’s the perfect spot to decompress from the heat and loud crowds. The bar is dark, quiet, and chill. Plus they’re making some of the best cocktails in town. And the staff is always friendly. It’s located inside Hotel Indigo, but Anna’s Place is an independently-owned bar. Anna’s Place is 21+ all the time.
Hang out on The RiverFront
900 Farnam Street, Suite 100 Omaha, NE 68102 (5 minute drive or 18 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
It really is as good as everyone says it is. The RiverFront was entirely renovated a few years ago and it’s a HUGE step up. This area consists of three connected parks: Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park, and Lewis & Clark Landing. Might as well stroll through all three while you’re here. There’s something for everyone.
Gene Leahy Mall: performance pavilion, sculpture garden, playground, dog park, firepits, food trucks, hammocks, ping pong, lots of places to sit.
Heartland of America Park: skate ribbon, Farnam Pier, lakeside ampitheater, firepits, bocce courts, swings, lots of places to sit.
Lewis & Clark Landing: Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge, firepits, sand volleyball, playground, lots of places to sit.
Mini golf your heart out at The Fat Putter
111 N 10th St, Omaha, NE 68102 (6 minute drive or 12 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
This place has mini golf, but better. There are multiple courses, and each hole has a fun theme and challenge, so it doesn’t get boring. After 6pm every night, this location is 21+ only.
Order coffee from Rally Coffee
749 N 14th St, Omaha, NE 68102 (4 minute drive or 10 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
This is a really great coffee shop. The drinks are high-quality and they have the minimal aesthetic down pat. Their downtown location is right by the field. But if you happen to find yourself on the southwest end of town while you’re here, Rally just opened a second location in Gretna.
. . . Or grab coffee from Archetype Coffee
1229 Millwork Ave, Omaha, NE 68102 (4 minute drive or 13 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
This is another really great coffee shop. The owner won a national barista competition, so you know they’re solid. Archetype has multiple locations in town (Little Bohemia, Blackstone, and Millwork Commons), but the Millwork Commons location is the closest to the field.
Enjoy artisanal gelato at Centi
501 S 11th St, Omaha, NE 68102 (5 minute drive or 22 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
A must-visit for locally made gelato. It’s DELICIOUS. You can’t go wrong with any of their flavors. This is right in the heart of the Old Market, so you’ve got a lot of other options for activities and restaurants to keep you busy.
Enjoy a delish dinner at Clio
1202 Howard St, Omaha, NE 68102 (6 minute drive or 23 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
If you’re going to treat yourself to one nice meal while you’re in town, make it this. Clio is a mediterranean restaurant and a newer addition to the Old Market. The food is amazing. The service is great. I literally have nothing negative to say. Go here. But make a reservation so you know you’ll have a table.
Listen to live music at Jewell on Capitol
1030 Capitol Ave, Omaha, NE 68102 (2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
Jewell on Capitol (formerly known at The Jewell) is a nice live music venue with a selective menu of cocktails and small plates. Most shows have no cover charge to enter. I’d recommend making a reservation ahead of time so you know you’ve got a table.
Order tacos at Hook and Lime
735 N 14th St, Omaha, NE 68102 (4 minute drive or 11 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
I’m rarely not in the mood for tacos. This is a solid spot close to the field to get your taco fix.
Get your tiki on at Laka Lono Rum Club
1204 Howard St, Omaha, NE 68102 (7 minute drive or 23 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
I love a good tiki bar and Laka Lono totally hits the mark. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is fun. If you want an Instagram-worthy moment, order one of the drinks that gets lit on fire! Laka Lono is 21+ all the time.
Spend an afternoon at Kiewit Luminarium
345 Riverfront Dr, Omaha, NE 68102 (5 minute drive or 21 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field)
This science museum is a more recent addition to downtown and it’s quickly become a staple. Great spot for all ages, especially school-age kids. Plus often on Thursday nights, they offer a special Night Light event for adults 18+.
Further away from Charles Schwab Field:
If you want to take a drive a little further away from the baseball field (or you just REALLY want to get your steps in), these are the spots I’d highly suggest visiting.
Stop into Bad Seed and Nodest for coffee + plants
2452 Harney St, Omaha, NE 68131 (9 minute drive or 40 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 24, 24th Ave & Harney NW)
Is there any better combo than coffee and plants? Bad Seed Coffee’s original location on Harney shares a space with Nodest Home Plants, so you can browse houseplants while you sip a drink. Bad Seed also just opened a second location in Dundee, if you find yourself in that area.
Take a stroll around The Joslyn
2200 Dodge St, Omaha, NE 68102 (6 minute drive or 33 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 24, 24th St & Dodge St)
This art museum JUST recently opened an entire new wing and it’s huge. There’s a lot to cover here, so you could easily spend a couple hours wandering around the museum and enjoying the air conditioning. The best part? It’s free admission, all day every day.
Play unlimited board games at Spielbound
3229 Harney St, Omaha, NE 68131 (8 minute drive from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 15, 33rd & Farnam SW)
This board game cafe has the largest selection of playable board games in the country! Anyone and everyone can find a game they enjoy here. With a day pass, you can play unlimited games. Plus they offer a menu of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a limited selection of food. It’s a great stop for all ages.
Treat yourself to a memorable meal at Salted Edge
110 S 243rd St, Waterloo, NE 68069 (38 minute drive from Charles Schwab Field)
Up for a drive to the other end of town? Salted Edge is worth it. It’s a higher end restaurant with a unique menu and a patio that overlooks West Shores Lake. Amazing food. Great service. Highly recommend all around. Just make a reservation before you go so you know you’ll have a table.
Shop for antiques at Vintage Oasis
2511 Leavenworth St, Omaha, NE 68105 (9 minute drive or 46 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 11, 25th Ave & Leavenworth SW)
Vintage Oasis is a dang cool shop. There are two levels, both packed with all sorts of vintage goods everywhere you look. It’s fun to look around even if you don’t plan to buy — but who knows, you just might find a treasure you can’t leave without.
Grab brunch at Good Lookin’
4919 Underwood Ave, Omaha, NE 68132 (11 minute drive from Charles Schwab Field.)
One of my favs for a tasty, casual brunch/lunch! They’re known for their breakfast burrito, but you can’t go wrong with anything else on their menu. Good Lookin’s original location is in Dundee, which is closer to the field, but they also opened a second location in West O.
Unwind with retro arcade games at Beercade2
1423 S 13th St, Omaha, NE 68108 (7 minute drive or 40 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 13, 13th & William SE.
Grab a drink from the bar and play one of the many retro arcade games here. Just remember to bring your quarters for the games! This spot in Little Bohemia is Beercade’s second location, which is closer to the field, and is usually my preferred location anyway. The original location is in Benson. Beercade is 21+, though they do allow minors until 7pm when accompanied by an adult.
Get dinner and drinks at Inner Rail and Sonny’s
1905 S 67th St, Omaha, NE 68106 (14 minute drive from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 15, 67th & Mercy Rd SW)
The best for a crowd-pleasing meal and drinks! Inner Rail is a food hall (think cafeteria style) with multiple vendors, so everyone in your group can find a meal they like. Inner Rail also has its own bar and dog-friendly patio. Then right next door, you’ll find Sonny’s — a fun outdoor bar with its own comfy patio. There are multiple games to play on the patio, and on the weekends, Sonny’s has live music and karaoke. Both of these are lively spaces that are great for the whole family!
Enjoy a retro-style cocktail bar/diner at Fizzy’s Fountain & Liquors
1408 S 13th St, Omaha, NE 68108 (7 minute drive or 40 minute walk from Charles Schwab Field. Or take the bus! Route 13, 13th & William SE.)
Sit in a retro booth and place your order through a vintage phone — that’s the vibe at Fizzy’s. It’s like a grown-up soda fountain. They’ve got happy hour every dang day, a well known brunch, and boozy floats (!) perfect for summer. Plus this is right across the street from Beercade2, so you can hit both while you’re here. Fizzy’s is 21+ all the time.
Play away at Smash Park
8121 S 125th St, La Vista, NE 68128 (29 minute drive from Charles Schwab Field)
The perfect activity spot for kids and adults! From pickleball, axe throwing, duckpin bowling, arcade games, cornhole, karaoke, darts, and more — this is a really fun place to spend an afternoon or evening. They also have multiple bars and a pretty extensive food menu too. Heads up that some activities do require a reservation, so check their website ahead of time.
