First Date Ideas
I know dinner and drinks are a classic first date. But if you ask me, activities make for a way better time.
An activity gives you a built-in thing to do to fill any awkward silences. And you get a chance to learn something on the spot about your date (like whether they take board games way too seriously).
Here are a few of my favorite activity-based first date ideas around Omaha. Good for all ages.
Visit a board game cafe
With a day pass at Spielbound, you can play unlimited board games. This was where my husband and I went for our first date, and it was perfect! You can play games while you enjoy a coffee or alcoholic drink.

Go skating
The Skate Ribbon at The RiverFront downtown is a yearround activity. During the warm months, it’s a roller skating rink, and then during the winter it transforms to an ice skating rink. Plus it’s right by the Old Market, so you can grab ice cream or coffee or a cocktail afterwards.

Mini golf together
This is an all-in-one date stop. Prehistoric Putt has multiple mini golf courses, laser tag, and an arcade. Plus there’s a restaurant and bar on-site, so you don’t have to find a second location in order to extend the date.

Stroll around a museum
This is another package deal for a date. Walk around the exhibits at The Joslyn, and then you can stop by the museum’s cafe for a coffee or light lunch.

Try your hand at pottery
Paint pottery together, or take one of Rosy Clay Co.’s workshops to learn how to throw on the wheel. Then you walk away with a cute momento from your time together!

Play arcade games
Get a wristband and you can play unlimited vintage arcade games for the day at DraftCade. Plus there’s a restaurant and bar too, so you can easily extend the date without leaving for another location.
