Spring Date Ideas
Spring is pretty darn near the top of my list of favorite seasons.
Everything feels a little more alive, the weather is finally decent, and after MONTHS of feeling cooped up inside I actually want to leave the house again!
If you're feeling the same way and looking for date ideas to try this season, here are a few my top suggestions prtaround the metro.
Wander a neighborhood
Pick a walkable neighborhood, start at one end, and just see where you end up. No reservations, no agenda.
The Benson strip is one great option for this! Start with ice cream at Ted & Wally’s or dinner at Virtuoso Pizza, walk the main strip on Maple Street, browse the shelves of treasures at Alley Cat Vintage, and end the night at The Waiting Room Lounge if you want to catch some live music.
Blackstone, Dundee, and the Old Market are all solid picks too depending on the vibe you're going for.
Go to a Storm Chasers game
It's a casual, affordable way to spend a spring evening outside at Werner Park. Tickets are pretty cheap for general admission, and the baseball season runs May through September so early games land right in that nice-weather window.
Hit the farmers market
Farmers markets start popping back up around the metro in May, and they make for a really easy, low-key date. Walk through the stalls, grab coffee from one of the vendors, and pick up something you didn't plan on buying (of course). Seasonal markets happen across Omaha, Gretna, Bellevue, etc, so there’s probably one close to you.
Make a thing out of the first real patio day
After a Nebraska winter, sitting outside with a drink in decent weather is genuinely exciting. Find a patio you've been meaning to try and make a night of it. See my list of Omaha patios worth visiting.
Stroll around Lauritzen Gardens
The gardens are in full bloom this time of year, and it's one of the prettiest spots in Omaha. Walk around, talk, look at flowers, plan your dream garden. No awkward "so what do you want to do now" energy. Admission to Lauritzen Gardens is fairly inexpensive and it makes for a relaxed afternoon together.
Whatever you end up doing, spring is a great time to get out and explore Omaha! If you want more ideas for things to do around town, browse my guides or subscribe to my newsletter.
